My BFF Carol Ann and I have not been able to enjoy many Saturday outings recently, but we were able to take advantage of an opportunity to visit the Colquitt County Arts Center and view Carrie Viohl's Dreams and Memories photography show today. We had been anticipating our visit and we were not disappointed. The brochure quotes Carrie as saying ," Dreams and Memories is a show about two of the most mysterious and precious times in a person's life ..... The children in the show represent Dreams .... the Senior Citizens in the show represent Memories...." Since Carrie photographs our littles and I always love the photos she gets of them I was already a fan, but I loved seeing not only the children dressed in tutus, fairy wings, and firefighter boots but the beautiful faces of the older folks. The serene expressions on their faces surely brought back a lot on memories of my own grandparents. It is a beautiful show. Visit if at all possible. The showing will be on display until August 14 (FYI-KK). Congratulations Carrie.
After visiting the Arts Center we wanted to enjoy a nice lunch at one of the downtown restaurants, but since we were having a late lunch we did not find any of our favorites open. So we decided to lunch at Chick-Filet-A. Not exactly a lady's luncheon, but we were still ladies who were lunching and Chick's is always a great place to meet and visit and eat Christian chicken. It was especially busy for the late hour but I know on Saturdays most people enjoy a slower pace and there was a birthday being celebrated.
So, we enjoyed a nice lunch and started out the door when a lovely lady ran out and stopped us to speak to CA. We chatted a few minutes then continued toward my vehicle. After a couple of steps a few sprinkles of rain fell on us and I commented that we needed to hurry. We were almost to Carol Ann's door when "SOMEONE" turned over a bucket of water! Right! On! Our! Heads! I mean it was a sudden downpour! We were drenched in less than a minutes' time. I am talking drenched! I was trying to help CA get into my vehicle but we started laughing so hard about the rain running down my face and dripping on her already wet clothes that we were having a hard time even starting the process of transferring her to the seat. The lady we had stopped to visit with finally ran out with an umbrella to hold over CA, but it was really too late. We managed to get both CA and her soaking wet wheelchair in and we were finally off ...... thinking that it was surely raining all over the county. But NO! Just a few blocks away there was not even a sign of rain. No rain at CA's house where it was so needed. No rain at my house where it was also needed. My clothes were so wet that I could not find a dry spot to wipe my hands. My hair was plastered to my head. I used my hand to wipe away the mascara that ran down my face. I never looked back at Chick's to see the horrified faces that were surely looking out as Lucy tried to get Ethel out of the rain! Carol Ann thought John would be glad she had already had her Saturday night shower. I was just glad to be out with my friend.
John took pictures that I may or may not post later.

Special Order
I am not sure if it is because we moved to the country or if it is just "the time's they are a changing", but here at Still Waters we seem to be doing an awful lot of internet purchasing. One never knows what will show up on our porch.
Here is a box I found on the porch recently.
Right there beside the ivy ..................................
Could it be from Ann Taylor? Banana? Maybe I ordered a new gardening book from Amazon.
Too big for any of those purchases. .........
Maybe Jimmy won the bid for dynamite on Yahoo....... to get rid of the pond grass once and for all.
Nope................
..................... special order ...........................
Sushi poppers! WHO KNEW?!?!

Summer Goodness
One of the joys of summer has to be tomato sandwiches.
Made on fresh bread ..............
............ whether you love the white bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth......
or the wheat bread as I do ( My grandmother always had wheat bread and I loved to eat it with her. And my mother wanted wheat bread just for tomato sandwiches) .......
with enough mayonnaise to run down your hand when mixed in with the juice of the home grown tomato, still warm from the sun.
Breakfast after working in the garden this HOT summer morning!!! Yes, I ate all three!

How Does Your Garden Grow?
Farming ............ or at least gardening has to be in my DNA ......
............ but I was able to resist the urge for a long time.
But this winter I gave in and took up the garden mantle passed through the Rogers generations.
Jimmy built a raised bed for my birthday.
Life got in the way and I planted late .............
BUT we have a garden.
And here it is........................... my first tomato. And he has a brother.
