Tradtional Winter Vacation Weekend

As is our tradition, we celebrated our anniversary and Jimmy's birthday at the coast. We decided to celebrate on the Mississippi coast this year...... since Jimmy was already there it seemed best!

The weather this year was delightful unlike the last two years.

Jimmy wanted to show me the ship yard down from his office in Pascagula. He's been watching them build this ship.

Then we headed over to Mobile Bay..... Drove across the 5 ( I think) mile bridge..........

..... to check out Dauphin Island. We have seen the signs to Dauphin Island all these months and heard people talk about vacationing there.

We found A LOT of Beach houses! Rows and rows of houses! Beautiful beach houses. Dauphin Island reminded us of St. George Island. But,we only saw one small grocery store. No open restaurants. No food joints at all. And we were hungry.

We were finally directed to the Country Club ...............

............ and the Gulfview Grill.

And it did have a wonderful Gulf view. And it was a grill. A small round block building with at most ten tables. It was a throwback to the 40's.

This picture shows the grill in the front part and pro shop in the back where the golfers are hanging out.

But it was neat and the food was the best on the island! So, visit Dauphin Island for a week long vacation but not for a day trip.

We don't know what these are, but aren't they cute? They are obviously not very deep, maybe 8 feet. There is a boat dock behind each unit. How do you think you would get to the top floor?

Here's a nice restaurant we ate at one night. I ordered a delicious Chicken Marsala dish which Jimmy enjoyed tremendously!

This is not it! But...............Good food. Good times!

Happy Birthday Lela..............

Surprise!

Lela's birthday was earlier this month ..............

and we decided to surprise this expectant mother with a little relief ..................... from cooking, that is. Meals for a week.
Hope you enjoyed, Lela. I think Jay was very happy about this gift.

Oh, I don't think I ever said that in late March we'll have another grandson! We are crazy about grandsons!

Yep! It is hard work to walk!

And serious business.

Little break.

After a couple of days, I'm just a walker now. Look at those bear feet!

2 men kidnapped by women

Staff Reports
The Moultrie Observer

MOULTRIE — Two Moultrie men reported they were kidnapped at knifepoint by two women early Tuesday morning.

A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to the Tom White Linear Park parking lot on Lower Meigs Road about 2 a.m. Tuesday about the incident at the request of a Moultrie police officer. The deputy spoke with Jesus Jarnigan and Joel Gonzalez, who stated they were walking along Circle Road about 12:30 a.m. when a black four-door Chevrolet pulled up beside them.

The car stopped, and two women got out of the car and asked Jarnigan and Gonzalez about the woman’s daughter. The two women then pulled out knives and ordered them to get into the car, which both did, police reports stated.

The car drove to the soccer fields near the Colquitt County Board of Education office on 28th Avenue Southeast. While getting to the location, Jarnigan and Gonzalez stated the women accused them of having sexual intercourse with the daughter, and the women threatened them with bodily harm.

When the car stopped at the soccer fields, Jarnigan and Gonzalez stated they got out of the car and ran away. They ran to a relative of Gonzalez’s house, who lived nearby, and told her what happened, the report stated.

The relative did not believe their story, however, so Gonzalez and Jarnigan decided to walk back to Circle Road via the bike trail.

Jarnigan and Gonzalez described the women as white females, one with blonde hair and the other with reddish brown hair. Both described the women as looking like “chicken head.”

I don't make the news ..... I just report it. Well, I don't report it, I just have to share it. JA

The Long List

Not a list of New Year's resolutions ............

but a long list of things to do while Jimmy was off work last week.

Put the leaf in the dinning table a for family meal. Take out the leaf and put it away.

Take care of business ............ trips to the bank and afternoons with the lawyer.

More trips to the lawyer's. ( No worry, good business.) Hurry! A lot to do. Company's coming, put the leaf back in the table.

Pack the Christmas decorations.....................

Get everything in storage!

Play with the boys.

Spend time with family and friends.

Play with the boys.

Pull Laurie's car out of the ditch!

Pack and leave for work.

WAIT! What about the little trees on the porch? And the extra leaf is still in the table!
Well, put that on the next list. Back to work and back to school.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Black eyed peas , rice, and greens.

We've been very blessed this past year so I guess we'll continue with the tradition. Except the hog jowls. No hog jowls. That must be what brings one the big bucks! Be blessed.
