Happy Birthday Bennett! (May 2)

Happy fifth birthday Bennett. It is hard for me to believe that you are really five years old.

But you have grown tall this year and learned so much in pre-school .............

..... and you'll be ready for big school soon, much before we are all ready for you to go.

You are so kind, smart, and fun! And you are a great big brother.
Happy, Happy Day to my sweet Bennett.

Blogger keeps "eating" my birthday post for my sweet Bennett. I keep trying!

Field Hands

Trying again to grow tomatoes.

B helped with the planting and the watering.

We have also done additional landscaping.

Han- man helped with some planting ......

and watering. Yes, our grand-kids have to work. Did you think this was a play camp?

I have an early memory, from about this age, of being in my mom's kitchen where there was a large basket covered with a red checked cloth and the most enticing aroma drifting from the basket on the top of the refrigerator down to my level.

There was a woman there cooking for the field hands that day. It may have been a special occasion, maybe end of the tobacco "season" because I don't think it was an everyday occurrence.

That memory always brings fried chicken and chocolate cake to my mind.

We may not feed our workers fried chicken and chocolate cake............

but we have SNACKS!

And a variety of them!

And I guess we do ...............

 have a play camp.

Including crafts .....

and rock climbing.

Welcome to Camp Still Waters!
A place where boys can be boys. And men can be to.

Boy Talk

Saving these memories .......
*As I was taking Bennett to school he caught sight of our beautiful court house over the top of other    buildings. "Juju" he said, "There's our skyscraper!"

* In the same conversation Bennett said, " Juju, I know where I live." "Where?" I asked. " Moultrie, Ga dot com."

* Jay, Lela, and Hannan were coming over for our birthday celebration last Saturday.  As Lela buckled him in his car seat, Hannan asked, " Is it Christmas again?" Lela explained that it was not. Hannan replied, "Oh, MAN!"

Can You Put Your Feet in the Sand?

Bennett and I were playing in the sand box .............

with our cars and trucks .............. building roads ......................

getting stuck in the mud.......

rescuing ourselves from the mud.

Playing with our cows and dinosaurs.

When Laurie came out on the porch, Bennett said, " Laurie, Can you come out to play with us? Can you take your shoes off and put your feet in the sand?"

So, we all three played in the sand .............. building roads ............. getting stuck in the mud ............ cows and dinosaurs fighting ........ then making friends.

Suddenly, Bennett jumped out of the sand box, ran over and hopped into one of my Adirondack chairs, gave us a big smile and said, " Can I just sit and watch? "

First Annual BLLB Golf Tournament

The First Annual BLLB (Bennett Lamar Lairsey Birthday) Pro Am Golf Tournament,

which takes place every year the first Saturday in May, was held last weekend.

The newly designed course proved no match for these golfers ............ no rough was too rough.

No sand trap too sandy.

The weather was perfect .....................

Fans filled the gallery on the perfect Saturday morning.

The Pros and their caddies .....................

Spring Walk

What do you get on a beautiful Spring day when you put two little boys on a trail through the woods, sprinkle charred twigs along the path that need to be thrown into the pond and allow time to throw them?

Two happy but very dirty little boys ..............................

....................... who need a bucket of water..................

.......................... or a hose before they can even ...................

............... be bathed in the house .......................
