Field Hands

Trying again to grow tomatoes.

B helped with the planting and the watering.

We have also done additional landscaping.

Han- man helped with some planting ......

and watering. Yes, our grand-kids have to work. Did you think this was a play camp?

I have an early memory, from about this age, of being in my mom's kitchen where there was a large basket covered with a red checked cloth and the most enticing aroma drifting from the basket on the top of the refrigerator down to my level.

There was a woman there cooking for the field hands that day. It may have been a special occasion, maybe end of the tobacco "season" because I don't think it was an everyday occurrence.

That memory always brings fried chicken and chocolate cake to my mind.

We may not feed our workers fried chicken and chocolate cake............

but we have SNACKS!

And a variety of them!

And I guess we do ...............

 have a play camp.

Including crafts .....

and rock climbing.

Welcome to Camp Still Waters!
A place where boys can be boys. And men can be to.

Boy Talk

Saving these memories .......
*As I was taking Bennett to school he caught sight of our beautiful court house over the top of other    buildings. "Juju" he said, "There's our skyscraper!"

* In the same conversation Bennett said, " Juju, I know where I live." "Where?" I asked. " Moultrie, Ga dot com."

* Jay, Lela, and Hannan were coming over for our birthday celebration last Saturday.  As Lela buckled him in his car seat, Hannan asked, " Is it Christmas again?" Lela explained that it was not. Hannan replied, "Oh, MAN!"

First Annual BLLB Golf Tournament

The First Annual BLLB (Bennett Lamar Lairsey Birthday) Pro Am Golf Tournament,

which takes place every year the first Saturday in May, was held last weekend.

The newly designed course proved no match for these golfers ............ no rough was too rough.

No sand trap too sandy.

Fans filled the gallery on the perfect Saturday morning.

Spring Walk

What do you get on a beautiful Spring day when you put two little boys on a trail through the woods, sprinkle charred twigs along the path that need to be thrown into the pond and allow time to throw them?

Two happy but very dirty little boys ..............................

....................... who need a bucket of water..................

.......................... or a hose before they can even ...................

............... be bathed in the house .......................

Swamp Thing

We spent Saturday in the swamp.............The Okefenokee Swamp that is.

Jimmy's family is from all around the swamp....Homerville, Statenville, all of those little towns.
So every September they gather at the State Park in Fargo, Ga. right at the bottom of the swamp.

The park has cabins, play grounds, plenty of water for fishing and boating and picnic pavilions. This weekend it was a very busy place. Two large reunions plus a lot of people fishing and hunting.

Hannan had fun "driving" the boat. He, of course, was one of the stars of the gathering.

We didn't even see a gator............... but this is as far out in the water we got........ The dock! Maybe next year, Hannan.

The Boys of Summer.................

Labor day has come and gone so this series of photos will finish the summer series....... The Boys of Summer.

Does anything say summer like a creamsicle,..................

..........( maybe not Hannan's favorite).............. boiled peanuts,....

..................................... cool water on a hot day,...................

............... a new slip'n slide,................

.................... or, of course, golf.

............................. which calls for a snack.

Then more golf.......................................................

and more golf with a cousin....................................

.........................................and another snack.

And of course more ice cream on the front porch.

Summer kisses are the juiciest.

And more water to wash away the grime from summer fun.

And here's a special "boy of summer" who visited Still Waters. Come back soon Alan. Don't wait until next summer.

So long, summer. How I'll miss you, but please take the gnats with you. And the snakes!
