Celebrate Autumn
Labor day has long since passed and, for us unseasonably, South Georgia has actually experienced autumn already. The mornings have been cool and even the ninety degree afternoons have been bearable because of the lack of humidity.
And the shadows! The morning shadows have been long and somehow comforting as they span the lanes, the ponds, and the fields.
In town the long shadows crossing the streets seem so invitingly cool. They acknowledge that we have survived the intense heat of another long, hot, hot summer; that we survived the natty dog days of another August; that we survived another invasion of the lusty love bugs.
So, the celebration of Autumn begins. South Georgia fall colors may not follow the same time frame as other parts of the country....... but we have color!
Pass the crisp white
little Methodist Church where the dogwoods are still wearing their greenery and will until almost Thanksgiving!
Down the wildflower lined dirt road....
bearing to the right to pass through the mimosa trees.......................
take Chinaberry Lane, that skirts the cotton field.........
to Golden Pond...............
where the little cabin stands at the edge of the woods.......
.......................................and the shadows live!
Rogers Farms: Remembering all the farmers who loved the fall harvest and this land.......
Thanks Granddaddy, Daddy, Uncle Glenn and all those who came before you. Thank you for the legacy you left us.
Don't miss the give away!!!!

The first picture of the cabin really looks like a "cabin in the woods." This post makes me want to come home!
Have fun this weekend but come home soon!
This post could go in Southern Living! Great pics! Love it! It makes me want to go to the cabin and take a walk around the pond to feed the fish and then sit around eating some good food, only to be followed by relaxing on one of the porches!
Lela,
You are too kind. Please feel free to use the cabin. Great get away.
